An Introduction to Primer
Primer is the unified infrastructure for global payments. We give finance and payments teams the visibility and control to reduce complexity, improve performance, and capture more revenue - all from a single platform.
Backed by Sofina, Peak XV Partners, ICONIQ, Tencent, Accel, and Balderton, we're building the payments layer the world's best companies rely on.

Which team will you be joining?
Getting paid is only half the story — understanding and managing those payments is where the real work begins.
The Financial Operations team is turning finance and treasury from a collection of disconnected tools and manual processes into programmable infrastructure — where liquidity can be observed and orchestrated across currencies, entities, and markets in real time. Practically, that means owning Reconciliation (matching and explaining every transaction across PSPs) and Global Accounts (letting merchants hold, manage, and move funds across currencies and markets as Primer expands into more complex cross-border payment flows).
What will you be doing?
Ship features across Reconciliation and Global Accounts, with support from more senior engineers on scoping and architecture
Build and improve the reports and dashboards merchants use to match and explain their payments across PSPs
Contribute to Global Accounts and FX capability — the infrastructure that lets merchants hold and move funds across currencies and markets
Work on the Costs Overview Dashboard, helping merchants understand exactly what they're being charged and why
Deploy your own features to production and monitor their impact once they're live
Get close to real financial data early — PCI, GDPR, and correctness aren't abstract concepts on this team, they're daily considerations
What we're looking for
Experience shipping production backend or full-stack features, with growing autonomy and less need for hand-holding on the basics
Previous experience coding in Python in a modern technical environment
Solid grasp of API design fundamentals and an eye for performance as usage grows
Comfortable writing tests and thinking through edge cases and error handling, even if you still lean on others for the trickier ones
Genuine care about precision and correctness — this team's output is literally merchants' money and financial reporting
Nice to have, not required:
Exposure to payments, reconciliation, treasury, or FX
Experience working with data reconciliation, matching, or ETL-style systems
You may not like it here
Reconciliation deals with genuinely messy, inconsistent data across PSPs — a lot of the work is unglamorous plumbing dressed up as infrastructure, and that's most days, not the exception
The correctness bar is high: small mistakes show up as real discrepancies in merchant money, so "close enough" isn't really a thing here
This is an established domain with real history and technical debt — you're joining existing systems, not starting from a blank page
Remote-first, high autonomy, fast pace — you're expected to figure things out with minimal hand-holding
✅ A typical interview process
An initial intro call with a Talent Partner
An interview with the Hiring Manager
Challenge Stage - Contextualised to the role
A final, values-alignment interview
