Job details

Quantum Space is redefining mobility and maneuverability in space. Our high-mobility spacecraft platforms support national security, civil, and commercial missions with unmatched flexibility and propulsion capability. We build fast and iterate quickly.

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking a technically skilled and hands-on Electrical Engineer II – FlatSat Integration to support the deployment, integration, and long-term maintenance of spacecraft FlatSat environments utilizing engineering models of flight hardware, software emulators, hardware simulators, and associated Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE). In this role, you will serve as a key contributor to spacecraft integration activities, helping bring together individual subsystems into cohesive, flight-like system test environments that support development, qualification, launch preparation, and mission operations.

Working closely with systems, avionics, power, RF communications, flight software, ground software, guidance, navigation and control (GNC), and payload engineering teams, you will play a critical role in ensuring spacecraft are fully integrated, validated, and mission ready. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hardware integration, debugging, system validation, and solving complex multidisciplinary engineering challenges.

You'll Make an Impact

  • Deploy, integrate, and maintain spacecraft FlatSat environments utilizing engineering models, hardware emulators, software simulators, and associated EGSE

  • Develop and maintain spacecraft-level integration environments supporting subsystem validation, vehicle checkout, regression testing, and mission readiness

  • Serve as a primary hardware owner responsible for integrating spacecraft subsystems into cohesive, flight-like system testbeds

  • Support the operational readiness and long-term maintenance of FlatSat platforms throughout spacecraft development, launch preparation, and post-deployment mission operations

  • Collaborate with avionics, RF communications, power, flight software, ground software, GNC, payload, and systems engineering teams to support end-to-end spacecraft integration

  • Perform hardware bring-up, electrical troubleshooting, debugging, root-cause investigations, and anomaly resolution across integrated spacecraft systems

  • Develop and maintain integration procedures, interface control documentation, test configurations, operational workflows, and supporting technical documentation

  • Support the design, integration, and maintenance of Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE), electrical interfaces, harnessing, and supporting infrastructure

  • Participate in spacecraft assembly, integration, checkout, validation, and mission support activities

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance FlatSat reliability, integration efficiency, and overall mission readiness

What It Takes

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline

  • 3+ years of experience supporting electronics hardware development, system integration, or spacecraft integration within aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability industries

  • Experience working with spacecraft and embedded communication interfaces including RS-422, RS-485, CAN, LVDS, SpaceWire, and Gigabit Ethernet

  • Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation including digital multimeters (DMMs), oscilloscopes, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, and related electronic test equipment

  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and root-cause analysis skills across integrated hardware and embedded systems

  • Experience coordinating integration activities across multiple engineering disciplines and spacecraft subsystems

  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Comfortable operating within a fast-paced, iterative spacecraft development environment

  • Hands-on engineering mindset with strong systems-level thinking and integration intuition

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline

  • Experience designing and building custom hardware emulators and Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE)

  • Experience designing and fabricating EGSE harnessing, electrical interfaces, and supporting hardware

  • Python scripting experience supporting automation, hardware control, validation, or integration workflows

  • Experience designing mechanical enclosures and support equipment for EGSE platforms

  • Hands-on experience supporting spacecraft Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T)

  • Familiarity with spacecraft avionics architectures, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments, and integrated spacecraft testbeds

  • Experience supporting mission operations or post-deployment spacecraft sustainment activities

What You'll Get

  • Ownership – Become a primary hardware owner responsible for spacecraft-level FlatSat integration and operational readiness

  • Innovation – Build and maintain advanced spacecraft integration environments supporting next-generation high-mobility missions

  • Impact – Enable subsystem integration, spacecraft validation, and mission success from development through on-orbit operations

  • Growth – Gain hands-on experience across nearly every spacecraft subsystem while developing deep integration and systems engineering expertise

  • Compensation – Competitive salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, generous leave, FSA, 401(k) matching, and equity sharing

Location: Rockville, MD or Hawthorne, CA

Base Salary: $100,000–$125,000
